Sustained by Heaven

A successful marriage requires hard work. Yet, the kind of work that sustains a thriving union is not merely human effort—it is the daily surrender to biblical principles through the power of the Holy Spirit. Marriage was never designed to be upheld by human strength alone, for what is ordained by heaven must also be sustained by heaven.
Often, spouses invest significant energy in observing and expecting change in their partners—how they can become better husbands or wives. While this is not entirely misplaced, true and lasting transformation in marriage begins within. The fact is, the most effective agent of change is not the other person, but oneself. Therefore, the deeper question becomes: How much am I yielding to the Holy Spirit to become a doer of God's Word concerning my marriage?
When storms arise within a marriage, human wisdom may falter in calming the waves. But peace enters swiftly when a greater voice is given control. This is the essence of the scripture below:
Galatians 5:16 (AMP)
But I say, walk habitually in the [Holy] Spirit [seek Him and be responsive to His guidance], and then you will certainly not carry out the desire of the sinful nature [which responds impulsively without regard for God and His precepts].
How much intentional effort are you investing in conforming to the image of Christ? Without this, it becomes nearly impossible to become the best husband or wife you are called to be.
A successful marriage is not automatic—it is cultivated through daily surrender. And though this surrender requires diligence, it is the kind of work that produces divine results. The beauty of it all is this: the Holy Spirit has already been given for this very purpose.
Always remember: the eagle does not conquer the sky only by flapping; it rides unseen currents. So it is with those who discern and yield to the higher winds of the Holy Spirit—they rise without exhaustion.
